Parabens in Cosmetic Products.
The term Parabens describes a group of chemical substances, which are often used as preservatives in cosmetics, foodstuffs and medicinal products. Parabens are used as preservatives to avoid growth of bacteria and fungi in the products.
Parabens used in cosmetic products are primarily; methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylenparaben and buthylparaben - often these are used in combination.
Specifically buthylparaben and propylenparaben are under suspicion of causing hormonal changes.
There is not solid evidence to which extent various Parabens are absorbed through the skin and the resulting effects on the male reproduction. The EU Scientific Committee for Consumer Products (SCCP) has requested that the cosmetic industry delivers more extensive data on these issues to clarify the matter.
However, the mere suspicion that Parabens may pose a health hazard, has lead a number of manufacturers and retail shops to omit products containing Parabens - especially as there are alternative preservatives available.
At Dip'nGrip we have decided to develop our Dip'nCare Pre-Game Lotion without the use of Parabens, and avoid even the slightest risk of causing potential damage to our customers.
